Dynamite Fighter takes as a point of departure the intriguing, conflicted figure of Wakefield-born boxer Paul Sykes, who died last year. Despite touring America with Don King, Sykes ended up a homeless alcoholic and received Wakefield's first ASBO.

This site-specific performance event incorporates music, film and sculptural elements, weaving together multiple political, social and philosophical themes.

Dynamite Fighter loosely references the scene in Stanley Kubrick's 1971 film Clockwork Orange where, after a session in the Korova Milkbar, Alex and his gang of droogs assault an old tramp. The work pivots around a text written by boyleANDshaw to be interpreted by costumed performers in a boxing-ring-styled stage area.

The set designs for Dynamite Fighter are inspired by Allen Jones's unrealised designs for the Korova Milkbar scene in Clockwork Orange and additional new drawings by the artist, who has a passive presence in the conception of the work. Performance artist Adam James will inhabit the role of 'Paul'. Jennie Fagerström, Malin Ståhl and Anita Wernström, three practicing performance and video artists, will take on the roles of the Korova Milkbar waitresses.

A live sound track will be provided by Lark. The band will be experimenting with new material and rehearsing current tracks in their partially reassembled East London studio.
